Signs It’s Time to Replace

  • 💨

You feel drafts from closed windows

Air infiltration around the frame or through a failed seal means your HVAC system is working harder than it should. New windows with proper insulation can reduce that load noticeably — and qualify for Avista energy rebates.

  • 🌫️

The glass is foggy or condensation appears between panes

That haze inside the glass means the insulated seal has failed. If it’s one or two panes, an IGU repair may be enough. If multiple windows are failing, or the frames are also deteriorating, replacement makes more sense.

  • 🔒

Windows are difficult to open, close, or lock

Warped frames, worn hardware, and painted-shut sashes are more than inconvenient — they’re a safety and egress issue. If the frame has shifted enough that the window no longer operates reliably, replacement is the right fix.

  • 🏠

The windows are original to a home built 25+ years ago

Older aluminum and wood windows perform significantly below current standards. Modern vinyl and composite windows insulate better, require less maintenance, and hold up longer in the Palouse climate.

  • 💰

    You’re preparing to sell

New windows are one of the few upgrades that show up visibly in listing photos, affect appraisal, and reduce buyer inspection concerns. We can work around your timeline and provide documentation for the listing.

Things to Have in Mind for Your Estimate

  • What are your existing windows made of?

Wood, aluminum, and vinyl all have different removal requirements. Aluminum frames in particular require interior and exterior trim work to waterproof properly — which affects the overall scope.

  • How do you want the new windows to open?

Single-hung, double-hung, slider, casement, awning — each has tradeoffs in ventilation, cleanability, and cost. We’ll walk through what makes sense for each room.

  • Do any windows sit directly next to each other?

Windows fused together and installed as a single unit are called mulled windows. They’re measured and priced differently — it’s worth flagging these before the estimate visit.

  • Are any windows in a basement or above the first floor?

Basement windows often require a different installation approach. Ladder work adds time and a second crew member — we’ll account for this in the estimate so you’re not surprised.

  • What color or finish do you want?

Standard is white, but we offer tan, black, and a range of colors. ProVia also carries a faux wood laminate and wood clad interior for a higher-end look at a fraction of the cost of real wood.

  • What about trim?

We include new exterior trim on every installation — it’s how we guarantee the waterproofing. Interior trim is included too. If you want to change the trim profile, replacement day is the right time to do it.
